The New Zealand First Team
Brenda Steele, Candidate for Kaipara ki Mahurangi
Brenda Steele has resided at Wharepapa, Helensville with her family on their family farm for the past thirty-three years.
Together with husband Aaron, they have four adult children and are grandparents to eight - soon to be nine mokopuna. She is proud to be part of the sixth-generation who have lived in this area. Our family has a rich background in farming and agriculture.
Growing up as a child at Muriwai Beach, Brenda learnt from an early age the importance of knowing your neighbours. As an adult, she became an advocate for the district, which has helped her make informed decisions across her professional career.
Brenda believes that if you want to see a change in your community then you must lead by example.
With this belief and a keen interest in the community and environment, Brenda found herself in positions where she was able to articulate the community's concerns. This includes extensive experience in local government, ranging from being Chair of the Rodney Local Board to Regional committees, campaigning for those for whom the decisions greatly impacted.
In addition to the skills she acquired in local government, Brenda has also been involved with multiple Central Government review panels. In this capacity, I have been able to gain greater insight into some of the systematic processes to produce better results for our local people.
Brenda is standing as the New Zealand First candidate for Kaipara ki Mahurangi as she believes that our community deserves to have someone who not only lives in the electorate but is aware of the issues that we are currently facing.
