Cities and Regions Ltd founder Dr David Wilson will represent New Zealand First in the Upper Harbour electorate in 2023.

David has extensive public policy and economic development experience that will be a valuable asset to the New Zealand First team. He was an integral part of the Independent Advisory Panel for the Provincial Growth Fund and is a former Chair of Economic Development New Zealand. He is a fellow of EDNZ and received their Distinguished Service Award in 2018.

Passionate about his local region, David has utilised his skills through CEO, governance and directorship roles, as well as academic and consultancy roles. He has an extensive blend of business and public sector experience, along with an array of qualifications, including a Masters in Public Policy with first class honours and a PhD in Governance and Regional Economic Development.

Balanced and pragmatic, David is committed to the prosperity of his community and country. David enjoys basketball, surfing, fishing, reading and encouraging others to succeed. He is married to the wonderful ‘Doctor Anna’ and has two grown up children.
