13. Stu Husband

Waikato Electorate

Farmer and former Regional Councillor Stu Husband will stand for New Zealand First in the Waikato electorate this year.

Originally from Auckland, Stu balanced his early farming career with roles as a prison officer at Mt Eden prison, and then as a firefighter in South Auckland, before achieving his dream of farm ownership in the Waikato.

Stu has always been dedicated to the agricultural sector, and has a strong desire to serve his local community, in addition to supporting the endeavours of his five children. He previously chaired Morrinsville Federated Farmers and was on the National Sharemilker Employers Committee.

After becoming a Waikato Regional Councillor in 2013, Stu spent the next nine years in this role. This included chairing the integrated catchment, and contributing to the sustainable development of our waterways and extensive flood schemes within the region.

Stu has a fierce determination to support and represent the farming community that provides the ongoing economic backbone of New Zealand.
