Casey Costello: International Day of Older Persons

Throughout New Zealand it is difficult to think of a sports club, charity, church group, festival, foundation, or service organisation that does not owe its existence, effectiveness, or success to the contribution of older New Zealanders.

October 1st is International Day of Older Persons so please take a moment to consider how our society is enriched and strengthened by the dedication and support of our older kiwis.

It is equally important to reach out to your family members and neighbours to check in. Loneliness and isolation are realities for too many in our communities.

New Zealand First understands that being a certain age does not diminish an individual's value or importance. We are delivering on our commitments to protect freedoms, dignity, and value of our Seniors through practical solutions to improve quality of life.

As I travel around New Zealand meeting with Aged Care providers and residents, Retirement Villages' operators and occupants, Health professionals and service providers I know there is much to be done but at the same time so much that is being done.

I have been lucky enough to meet with various support groups and charities that show how much can be achieved when we work together.
