Jon Blackshaw

Keneperu candidate Jon Blackshaw is a registered social worker, currently working as a mental health therapist with a Maori & Pacific Health Service. He is of Scots, Irish and Italian descent and a proud first generation Kiwi, born and raised in Newlands, Wellington.

Jon has been passionately serving communities of the Kenepuru electorate for the past thirty years in locations as diverse as Newlands Baptist Church, Kenepuru Hospital, Red Cross Refugee Services, Women's Refuge, Oranga Tamariki, Advocacy Clinics [WINZ & CAB],  Sisters of Compassion Soup Kitchen, Porirua Community Mental Health, and as a drug and alcohol counsellor at Arohata Women's Prison. He was also the Chairperson for the Cannons Creek Residents Association & on the advisory board of Whitireia Community Law.

For the past 23 years Jon has been living in Porirua East with his wife Sarah and his four children, where he also coaches football and tennis, and is on the committee of the Tawa Tennis Club.
