Sheldon Eden-Whaitiri

Sheldon Eden-Whaitiri is an experienced sports administrator, rugby referee, business leader and community volunteer with a career spanning high-performance sport, commercial leadership and public service.

Originally from Hawke's Bay, Sheldon attended King's College and the University of Auckland. His connection to Mt Albert spans more than two decades, having refereed rugby at Mt Albert Grammar and Eden Rugby Football Club at Gribblehirst Park and the National Stadium Eden Park.

Sheldon previously led New Zealand Cricket's national officiating programme, managing high-performance officials, major national competitions and international cricket relationships. He has also held senior commercial roles working alongside businesses throughout New Zealand, giving him firsthand insight into the challenges facing employers, small businesses and working families.

A proud New Zealander of Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Porou descent, Sheldon has volunteered as a rugby referee for more than 25 years, including officiating over 50 first-class matches across New Zealand.

As New Zealand First's candidate for Mt Albert, Sheldon is committed to putting New Zealanders first by restoring common sense to government, backing hardworking families, supporting local businesses, strengthening communities and ensuring future generations have the opportunity to build a better life in New Zealand.
