Vaughan Taylor

Vaughan Taylor will stand for New Zealand First in the East Coast Bays electorate.

Vaughan grew up in a small market gardening village north of Auckland City, and credits his work ethic to working from a young age, picking fruit and driving tractors and trucks. His father was one of the first commercial tomato growers in the country to use bumble bees to pollinate the plants, inspiring Vaughan to pursue education.

Vaughan studied in Dunedin, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Economics, before heading to Korea in 2001 to work as a teacher of English as a second language. While in Korea, he completed a research based Master Degree in Education and started teaching at universities.

Returning to New Zealand post-Covid after two decades abroad, Vaughan began work for the Department of Corrections at Auckland Prison, Paremoremo, New Zealand’s only maximum security facility. Combining those skills with his academic background, he was then chosen by the Prosecution Office to become a prosecutor, a position Vaughan currently still holds.
